As one of the ‘next generation’ of luxury airport hotels and the first to open under Sofitel’s new luxury brand, the Sofitel London Heathrow,

with its five towering steel and glass atria, has positioned itself at the forefront of style and communication design.
A vibrant centre for the international business community, set within the UK’s most central transport hub at Terminal 5, the Sofitel boasts the highest standard of communication available, in its top-specification conference and meeting rooms. All 14 conference and meeting rooms have been specified and equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including Christie HD-compatible digital projection, by hotel AV market leader proAV, who have also equipped a 117-seat tiered theatre.
Three executive boardrooms, the 16-seat Imperial Boardroom, 22-seat Opera Boardroom and 16-capacity Zen Boardroom, are versatile and digitally equipped. The most advanced room, the Imperial, features a Christie DS+305 SXGA+ 3300 lumen DLP® digital projector, incorporating BrilliantColor™ technology, producing an expanded on-screen colour spectrum that delivers enhanced colour saturation; meaning a more vivid and true-colour experience. In addition, the Imperial also offers full video conferencing via the integrated system as well as audio conferencing, Blu-ray facilities for high-definition playback, induction loop and 5.1 surround sound, operating under AMX control.
All on-site technical servicing is handled by AVC Productions, with the specification put together by proAV’s Alan Marshall and project manager Andy Truswell. “Reliability of AV translates directly to a conference hotel’s revenue, making Christie an easy decision, as it’s a well respected name”. (Christie have been a leading innovator in film projection since 1929 and a pioneer in digital projection systems since 1979). For this reason, the twelve smaller meeting rooms are also fitted with Christie DS+26’s to provide a uniform specification, projecting onto a drop-down electric Harkness Hall Tab Tension projection screen, taking HDMI from the Blu-Ray, VGA into the laptop and composite feeds from the DVD player, guaranteeing the most effective media performances possible.
Summing up, proAV managing director, David Burns, said, “proAV has demonstrated that appropriately specified fixed AV instillations can increase overall hotel revenues very dramatically. Our unique approach to hotel AV design has earned a market-leading position, as we can show how booking turnaround, conference revenue, room and catering revenues can all improve by as much as 30%. “
As competition for conference and wedding venues increases, Sofitel London Heathrow is already enjoying a healthy influx of bookings at the expense of competitive hotels, and it’s no doubt that this is due to the quality and range of AV services provided.
