EMBRACING THE CONCEPT OF MIDDLE EASTERN HOSPITALITY, FAKHRELDINE CHARMS WITH THE ENTICING TASTE, SIGHTS AND AROMAS OF THE FANTASTIC FOOD CREATED
Fakhreldine restaurant

Named after an 18th century Lebanese Prince, the food at Fakhreldine is certainly fit for a king.

Embracing the concept of Middle Eastern hospitality, Fakhreldine charms with the enticing taste, sights and aromas of the fantastic food created by head chef Youssef Harb.

On our visit we were treated to a selection of mezzes including Hoummos (Puree of chickpeas, tahini and lemon; 5.50) and baba ghanoush (puree of grilled aubergine, tahini and lemon; 6.50). From the vegetarian specialties we enjoyed Warak inab (vine leaves filled with parsley, mint tomatoes, onion and rice; 5.50) and from the meat specialties the Kibbe mekliyeh (Deep-fried lamb and cracked wheat parcels, filled with onion and pine nuts; 6.50).

The Tabboule (minced parsley, mint, onions and tomatoes mixed with cracked wheat, lemon and olive oils; 6.50).

For the main we ate the mixed meat grill, which for £21 was excellent value consisting of a selection of Kafta, Taouk, Lahim, Meshoue, (chicken, lamb and minced lamb kebabs as well as lamb cutlets).

To round off the meal there is an enticing sweet menu featuring traditional Lebanese desserts. The Katayef which consists of three pancakes filled with hazelnuts, chocolate and walnuts; Ashta and fig jam with vanilla ice cream was delicious, as was the Awamet, Lebanese fritters flavored with orange blossom flower and sugar syrup, served with mandarin sorbet.

Inside Fakhreldine the panoramic views over Green Park compliment the modern twist in the décor providing a perfect mix of Lebanese tradition and the glamour of London life.

The staff are friendly and attentive with our waiter recommending the 2005 Massaya, Silver Selection Lebanese Wine (33.00). The wine list in general provides a good mix of heritage Middle Eastern labels with more classic selections. Fakhreldine also have a delivery option providing take-away meals perfect for picnics in the park during the upcoming summer months.
